4th of July Fireworks Photo Tips

With the 4th of July coming tomorrow, well soon gather to watch local fireworks shows. Bring your digital point and shoot or SLR camera along this year and with the following tips you can capture some impressive images.

  1. Make sure that you are not downwind of the show. If you are, you'll be taking pictures of smoke not fireworks.
  2. If you have a tripod you will want to bring that along. Shooting on a tripod allows you to capture longer exposures without moving the camera.
  3. A self timer works best. Even the slightest movement from your hand depressing the shutter release on the camera can cause a picture to be blurry.
  4. Set up your camera property. First make sure the flash is turned off. Then, if your camera allows you to set your shutter speed, try experimenting with long exposures. Try a 3, 5, and 10 second exposure to see what you get. Typically, you'll be better off using a long exposure for the individual fireworks and a shorter exposure for the grand finale (since there is so much light in the sky with all the bursts.) Remember that the longer the exposure, the more of a trail you'll see for each burst and the more likely you're to catch multiple bursts in one image.
Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Orange County Wedding Photography: Breaking The Tradition

When one searches for or views wedding photography there are certain common aspects and traits to the photographs regardless of which Orange County photographer has snapped the pictures. Those brides and grooms who want to take wedding photography to the next level are often left with little to no options as most Orange County wedding photographers provide just your standard run-of-the-mill wedding photography services. There are a few photographers however who not only offer "alternative" wedding photography services but also have vast experience in taking wedding photography to a level that few others do or are capable of. This unique approach to photography is known as "Trash the Dress".  After the wedding is said and done the bride and groom take photos is the most off the wall places.

Take Your Photography Session to the Next Level:
  • Bride and groom diving into a pool, the ocean, or some other body of water while still in their wedding garb.
  • Photos taken on the beach in wedding garments except your in the water or rolling around in the sand
  • Strolling through the city or abandoned building
  • Rooftop of old building
These are options that are unique and not what you would usually see in a wedding album. If you are looking for unconventional photography session after the wedding Treasured Moments Photography can help!

Orange County Photographer Recognized And Honored For Her Volunteer Work

Back in December of 2009 Orange County photographer Carol Bridges volunteered her time and services to the Winter Wonderland event which benefited families of those who serve in the United States military. The event itself was a huge success and there were many families who benefited from Carol's kindheartedness. As a result of her willingness to give back and great work in December of last year the Orange County photographer has been honored by the Rancho Santa Margarita city Council.

In the council chamber it was standing room only last Wednesday night as nearly 100 people arrived for a number of student and volunteer recognitions of which Carol was one of them. The Orange County photographer was recognized for taking photos of children with Santa and providing each family with 5 x 7 prints of those photo shoots. Carol remains proud of her volunteer work and continues to express a great happiness in being able to help members of her community through difficult times especially during the holidays. The pictures she took not only pleased children but gave parents both here and abroad something to smile at during the holiday season.

Carol was extremely grateful for the recognition the Rancho Santa Margarita city Council gave to her and anxiously looks forward to donating more of her time to a worthwhile and local cause similar to the Winter Wonderland event she has been recognized for. SPRING FLING WITH TREASURED MOMENTS

We at Treasured Moments PHotography have been very busy in the community. Last weekend was Spring Fling in the city of Rancho Santa Margarita. It was all about children and spring and Easter. Treasured Moments PHotography had a studio set up for spring and LIVE bunnies for kids to hold and pet while having their photograph taken. It was soooo... much fun. I also had great help from Ali Graham and her friends. They were the Bunny Babysitters and helped the kids hold the bunnies. If it wasn't for them I would have been lost. They were great with the kids and the bunnies. The bunnies were all 4H bunnies that I borrowed and are all show bunnies. The twins in these photos were so adorable as they experienced their first easter bunnies

Orange County Photography: Tips And Tricks For Amateurs

If you're considering taking pictures yourself rather than hiring a professional Orange County photographer there a number of things that you want to keep in mind. These tips and tricks can help you produce pictures that are very close to professional quality. Of all the things to keep in mind however perhaps none are more important than lighting. That's because lighting does a number of things for pictures all of which are very important. Lighting can also be used to create moods and atmospheres for a photo shoot which ultimately enhances pictures and make special moments really stand out.

The following tips come from Orange County photographer Carol Bridges who states that lighting can make or break a photo shoot no matter whether the photo shoot is amateur in nature or professional.
  • While professional photographers use professional lighting the type of lighting employed by these people is rather expensive. Fortunately for the layperson there is a cheap and affordable yet high-quality alternative. Halogen work lights are not only widely available and affordable but also serve as adequate lighting for just about any type of photo shoot an amateur may partake in. If you find yourself in a pinch you can also use high watt incandescent lights as well. While these kinds of lights work great for amateur photo shoots and are affordable. There are some lights you should stay away from however. Fluorescent lighting will require a great deal of color correction during the development process and can drastically reduce the quality of pictures. Tinted lights should also be avoided unless you plan on photographing weird scenes or strange special effects.
  • In regards to setting up lighting for an amateur photo shoot, the process is actually quite simple. Temporary lighting can be set up or constructed on a filing cabinet, floor, or even a small table. You also want to remember that too little lighting even if used purposefully to create a specific mood for photographs can result in poor images that are not correctable even in photo editing software. Amateur photographers should also keep in mind that using too much lighting can lead to overexposure and the bleeding out of colors. These things too are often unrepairable in modern photo editing software. The setup of lighting needn't be a time consuming or difficult process and if it is for you, you may be doing too much or trying too hard. Just make sure that there is ample backlighting as well as foreground lighting and you should have no problems capturing great images.
  • Amateur photographers will also want to keep in mind that more often than not lighting from an angle works better than lighting directly behind or in front of whatever it is or whomever they're photographing. Lighting from an angle works much better because it does quite a bit to minimize shadows. While setting up your lighting move lights until the object your photographing looks great in the camera's viewfinder. If shadows are what you're after however use just one light.
While many people take the do-it-yourself approach when it comes to taking pictures, many turn to a professional Orange County photographer to ensure that they get only the best quality images. Should you have any questions regarding these tips and tricks please don't hesitate to contact Carol Bridges, an Orange County photographer and she'll be more than happy to help.

Orange County Family Photography By Treasured Moments

Orange County family photography is quite possibly one of the, if not the most popular type of photography. This is because children tend to grow up quickly and as everyone, including children, lead hectic lifestyles which makes having an entire family together for any length of time difficult. Parents will often take advantage of these rare moments however and schedule a photo shoot with an Orange County photographer for family photos. Some families have Orange County family photographs taken annually and some more often.

There are numerous occasions outside of the annual visit where families might want to see an Orange County family photographer. These range from holiday's to visits from rarely seen but loved relatives to family reunions. Other times families may simply want more than one picture taken of them per year. In any case Orange County family photography gives parents and other family members snapshots of precious, fleeting moments in time. These types of pictures often become family keepsakes as well and are sometimes passed down to children after they've grown up and had children of their own.

Never Too Early To Book Spring Photographs For Your Children

There are numerous occasions parents choose to have their children photographed. Among these are school pictures, holidays and birthdays. There are also some parents who have their children photographed annually in order to chart their growth and to create family keepsakes that can be cherished and eventually passed down to children after they've grown. Every set of parents chooses different times of the year to have photographs taken however it is perhaps the onset of the Spring season that the majority of parents prefer to use as that special time of year.

Treasured Moments Photography recommends you book your sessions early to avoid any last minute unavailabilities.

Spring is popular with parents because it represents all things new and with warmer weather on the way everyone is in better spirits. Orange County photographers will tell you that their calendars are regularly booked full throughout Spring and that many parents often book Spring sessions with an Orange County photographer just after the new year has rung in. Most photographers operate on a first come first serve basis and those who book their photo sessions while Winter is in full swing will benefit the most. This is because many Orange County photographers plan around their other bookings and the earlier a parent books a session for their child's photographs, the more an Orange County photographer will be able to do for them.

Some photographers even offer discounts to book early. Click here to see if Treasured Moments Photography has any early bird discounts for you.

As Spring is a time of year where the weather begins to warm up many parents and even Orange County Photographers will suggest destination photo shoots for children. Parks, playgrounds and sometimes the favorite locales of the child are requested as the location for the Spring photo shoot. Booking early gives an Orange County photographer more time to plan for travel and to be away from his/her studio. Of course there are also many parents who opt for studio based Spring pictures though booking early for those is also advisable.

Treasured Moments Photography can make your photo sessions at any local park, beach or in studio.

Spring child photographs often involve soft touches of nature whether they are produced in a studio or at a destination of the parents choice. Children playing in grass, near animals, and with clear skies is the preferred types of pictures for Orange County photographers as well as parents and both can be produced in studio and outdoor settings. The trick however is to find an Orange County photographer who's both available in the Spring and is capable of capturing ambiance and emotion as well as pictures.

Finding such an Orange County photographer isn't all that difficult as there are a large number in existence however you'll want to take the time to consider their willingness to travel, pricing, and their portfolio as well. Orange County photographers who are serious about their businesses will have their portfolio online and should have a gallery readily available for Spring photos. A portfolio speaks volumes about a photographer and so it's important to review each Orange County photographers Spring portfolio extensively.

Head Shots Done By A Professional Orange County Photographer Can Help You Get The Job You Want

There are a large number of reasons people hire an Orange County photographer. Among these are weddings, family reunions, senior class pictures, graduations, and even holiday pictures. One of the more overlooked reasons however is the professional head shot. Individuals with high profile jobs, or those seeking to land such a job will need to make a great first impression and a picture to accompany a resume. First impressions mean everything in today's business world and a professional head shot can put a friendly and professional looking face to a great resume and land you the job you want.

Photography By Treasured Moments can help you get the headshot that helps make that first impression great.

The majority of Orange County photographers you'll encounter offer some sort of service related to professional head shots but not all are fairly priced and not all photographers will be capable of taking the type of picture you need. Some photographers may have a style that produces only stiff looking images while others produce only generic and stereotypical head shots, devoid of emotion and mood. In order to impress those whom will be responsible for your hiring will be looking for not only a professional looking smile, but one that says something about who you are and what type of employee you might be.

Carol Bridges has even done head shots for celebrity OC Housewife Vicki Gunvalson.

For this reason alone it's a good idea to seek out and interview with as many Orange County photographers as possible. Meeting with many professional photographers and reviewing their portfolios will allow you to determine if a particular photographer is right for your head shots. It is not uncommon for job seekers after head shots to hire those Orange County photographers who aim to capture more than just a picture. Photographers whose bodies of work shows personality as well as a professional and warm smile are hired more than all other photographers.

Individuals looking for great head shots will also want to seriously consider those Orange County photographers whom use creative backgrounds as well as lighting. More expressive individuals will even sometimes request backgrounds or locations that say something about them on a professional and personal level. Being able to convey such things through a photograph and to a prospective employer can only increase the chances of not just an interview but landing a job as well.

Finding and reviewing photographers who offer head shot services has never been easier either as most Orange County photographers have some sort of online presence which usually includes a virtual portfolio. You can now search for a photographer online, review their portfolio from the comfort of your own home, and even schedule a session through their website. This is real time saver for those who need to spend more time looking and preparing for work and less time looking for a photographer.

Orange County Holiday Photographs: A Fantastic Gift Idea

With Halloween just behind us and the holidays looming just mere weeks away people have turned their attention to the upcoming season. Many have already begun shopping for gifts, decorations, and some have begun planning their holiday parties. The final weeks of the year often pass quickly and people are often left wondering where it went. This is especially true of those who have a difficult time discerning what gifts to by for loved ones.

Finding the Perfect Gift is Easy! Family Portraits Are Perfect for the Holiday Season!

One gift holiday shoppers might want to consider is holiday photographs. Many Orange County photographers have special promotions happening during the weeks that precede the holidays in an effort to give customers an opportunity to get family portraits done at a reasonable price. Some of these photographers also throw in a number of perks to further entice Joe and Jane shopper. These perks sometimes include flexible pricing and customizing of photo packages as well as an in studio Santa Claus for the children to visit and photograph with. Some Orange County photographers even welcome family pets into the fold for photographs adding a little something extra to holiday photographs.

Treasured Moments Photography Will Gladly Include Your Favorite Family Pet in Your Portraits!

Many consumers take advantage of these perks and special promotions as the holidays are a popular time to have family portraits taken and have holiday cards made. In fact many families come specifically for holiday cards and then send them out as or include them with other holiday gifts. Holiday cards are especially popular with people who have family members living far from their home. Family that is unable to attend holiday gatherings due to being separated by great distances enjoy receiving holiday cards immensely. These cards can be kept as keepsakes by not only those who receive them but by the family who orders the photo shoot as well.

With the economy being what it is and with many people operating on exceedingly tight budgets many are struggling trying to find a meaningful gifts at an affordable price. A photo shoot with an Orange County photographer will provide people in this type of situation with an opportunity to purchase a large number of photographs and/or holiday cards that can be both a gift for many people as well as a family keepsake to be treasured for a lifetime. Many photographers fill their calendars quickly however during this busy season and those who wait until the last minute to book a session often find themselves out of luck and out of time. Booking a holiday photo shoot weeks or even months in advance is always wise and some Orange County photographers even offer discounts for booking early.

Choosing A Great Photographer

Orange County photographers are a dime a dozen these days and each and everyone one of them attempts to outdo their competitors by offering specials on photo packages, pricing, and location shoots. This can make choosing a photographer somewhat difficult when the time comes for family portraits, senior photographs, child photography and even pet photography. The old saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies to the world of photography though it's not always cost that determines what type of images you ultimately end up with. There are a number of things you as the consumer can do to identify great photographers and to determine if a particular photographer is right for you. Remembering these things when looking for a suitable photographer will help you find the right one.

Packages Available - The first thing people might take notice of is just how expensive or inexpensive a particular photographers packages are. While price plays a part in determining whether or not you hire a photographer there's more to focus on here than the actual pricing. When you're reviewing photo packages it's important to find out whether or not a photographer is willing to be flexible with their packages. Most successful Orange County photographers allow their clients to add to as well as omit portions of their packages so that they not only get exactly what they want but can afford what they're getting as well. Hiring a photographer who doesn't allow customization of their packages often means you'll miss out on an opportunity to get the pictures you want.

Portfolio - Asking for samples of a photographers work should be a no brainer but believe it or not there are those out there that hire people without ever having sampled their work. A photographers portfolio tell you everything you to need to know about their style, experience, and overall ability. Looking through their portfolio might also yield pictures that you like in terms of location, lighting, etc. You can then express interest in that particular type of image and ask that the photographer replicate that style for your images.

Options - There are many photographers who do nothing more than snap simple images be there family portraits or photographs of individuals. Even if a photographer happens to be exceptionally talented at what he/she does, with very limited or no options available you'll wind up with that photographers vision of your photographs. This is why it's important to ask every photographer what options they offer. Be sure and find out if a photographer offers different background options, filter options, and even location shoots. Simple questions like these can ensure that you get the photographer and images you want.

If you ask every photographer you interview with these questions chances are you're going to find one that fits your photography as well as your budgetary needs. You'll also find that you'll be much more satisfied with the quality of your photographs in the end which is important because photographs are usually considered family keepsakes by those that have them taken. Orange County Photography: Family Portraits

You might think that it's easy to get a family together for a family portrait but that's not always the case. We all know that as children grow older and begin their own lives a family is rarely together with the exception of holidays and other special annual occasions. Even parents whose children are still young and in the home often have a difficult time coordinating their schedules with that of their children. School, work, friends, and other obligations can easily get in the way of something like family portraits.

Getting a family together for a trip to an Orange County photography studio is tough but don't let that discourage you from having family portraits taken. Time passes much to fast and children grow up faster that most of us would like them too. Orange County photographer Carol Bridges has several options available to those interested in family portraits. These options allow parents and grandparents to seize the moment so to speak and have pictures taken of the entire family. So what are these options? Well as part of the Orange County family photography packages she offers, Carol gives her clients the opportunity to choose to have her come to them, or any destination within Orange County they like. By doing so she negates the need for you to pack up the family and head to the photo studio, though that option is also there. Parents can pick a destination that both they and their children love and Carol will capture the moods, atmospheres, and emotions present at that location so that the photographs taken will become precious keepsakes to cherish for a lifetime.

Orange County family photographer Carol Bridges is well known throughout the south land and regularly fills her calendar quickly with bookings. If you'd like to book Carol for family portraits now is the time as the holidays typically become a very busy time for her. You can contact her or visit her Orange County photography website to view her family portrait gallery.
